Management & organisation
The Skagerak Facility is part of the University of Gothenburg’s marine research infrastructure and is operated by the Department of Marine Sciences. It brings together vessels, equipment, and expertise to enable advanced marine research and education.
The Skagerak Facility is a national research infrastructure based at the Department of Marine Sciences, which is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Gothenburg.
The Skagerak Facility is responsible for the research vessel R/V Skagerak, a pool of advanced marine equipment, and autonomous systems for oceanographic research.
In 2024, the University established a dedicated Steering Group to oversee the strategic, financial, and operational development of the Skagerak Facility. The Facility reports regularly to this Steering Group, which in turn informs the university’s central management about its progress.
In parallel, both the Faculty of Science and Technology and the broader university are actively involved in key decisions concerning the Facility’s continued development.
