AI for the humanities and the humanities for AI
AI for Humanities and Humanities for AI (HumAI) is a new faculty-wide seminar series with a series of guest lectures in 2026.
The seminar series explores both sides of the growing relationship between artificial intelligence and the humanities: what AI can contribute to humanities research, and how humanities perspectives can contribute to the development of more human-centered and subject-sensitive AI tools and methods.
Although many researchers are already working with AI in areas such as linguistics, language technology and digital humanities – and despite the increasing use of AI tools in everyday academic work – large parts of the humanities have not yet fully engaged with the opportunities and challenges that AI brings. This seminar series, funded by the Faculty of Humanities and the national research infrastructures Huminfra and Språkbanken, aims to raise awareness of these opportunities, promote critical reflection and stimulate cross-institutional dialogue on how the humanities can meaningfully shape and benefit from AI.
The seminars are held once a month – 15:00-17:00, Lisebergssalen (C350), Humanisten.
Organizers are Språkbanken Text, Department of Swedish, Multilingualism and Language Technology; Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science; Department of Historical Studies; and GRIDH, Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion.
Upcoming seminar dates:
• March 19
• April 23
• May 21
• June 18
