Research in industrial and financial management and logistics

Our research focuses on how economic theory and empirical analysis can inform decision-making within companies, industries, public organisations and wider society, with the aim of achieving efficient and sustainable resource utilisation.

Research areas

The Section of industrial and financial economics and logistics conducts research in corporate governance, operations analysis, financial and operational risk management, logistics and supply chains, investment appraisal, efficiency evaluation, transport modelling, pricing, valuation, portfolio selection, and environmental sustainability.

Research projects

The section has participated in numerous EU-funded projects and has also conducted projects funded by the Swedish Government, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), Mistra, the Swedish Energy Agency, and Vinnova. Our research is primarily empirical, with a strong focus on relevance, applicability, and practical problem-solving.

Cooperation

The section has extensive experience of collaboration with industry and public authorities at both national and regional levels. Our expertise covers banking and finance, manufacturing, intermodal transport, maritime logistics, real estate, public sector organisations, urban freight transport, and heavy industry. We also study energy-related issues such as energy efficiency and emissions trading.
