Short description

The overall aim of the project is to demonstrate how automated loading and unloading can support the transition to electric freight transport.

Expected effects and results

The project supports the implementation of automated loading and unloading solutions that can improve occupational safety, enhance staffing processes, reduce emissions, increase the utilisation rate of trucks, and promote the use of electric trucks. By focusing on the many interfaces within the existing road freight transport system, the project aims to identify potential efficiency improvements.

Approach and Implementation

The project will map and analyse several industrial cases, evaluate the appropriate level of automation for specific transport chains, and develop solutions to achieve that level. Workshops will be used to identify future needs and requirements for the transport chains, as well as potential applications of technology to meet these needs. Solutions for automated loading and unloading will be developed and conceptually tested and evaluated on-site at the premises of the partner companies.
