Our research and education environments

Premises

The Academy of Music and Drama currently operates at Eklandagatan 86, Åvägen 24 (Brewhouse), Vasagatan 50 (HDK-Valand) and Triörgatan 1 (Angered Centrum). HDK-Valand currently operates at Kristinelundsgatan 6–8 and Vasagatan 50, as well as at Campus Steneby in Dals Långed.

Konstnärliga

Art and culture are for everyone. With our new building, Konstnärliga, the Artistic Faculty will gain a new meeting place for cultural practitioners, cultural institutions, the creative industries and civil society more broadly. It will be a place for future generations of performers, musicians, actors, artists, craftspeople, designers and educators.

For the faculty, Konstnärliga will strengthen education and research in the artistic fields. It will also contribute to the cultural ecosystem of Gothenburg, the region and Sweden as a whole.

Construction of Konstnärliga is now under way in the Näckrosen area, close to Götaplatsen. The building will bring all the faculty’s subjects together under one roof, in premises designed to support world-class education and research. It will support the faculty’s vision of interdisciplinary encounters and perspectives: a place in the heart of the city where people can meet, experience art and exchange knowledge, while attracting students and staff from around the world.

A future building for the Artistic Faculty was included in the development plan for the Näckrosen university area, produced by the University of Gothenburg and Akademiska Hus in 2017. The plan sets out a long-term vision for creating a centre for art and the humanities, and a meeting place for academia and society, strategically located close to some of the city’s major cultural institutions and the Korsvägen public transport hub.

The new building will consist of a rebuilt section of the current Artisten building and two newly constructed sections.
