2020 disputerade jag i tillämpad lingvistik vid Chinese University of Hong Kong. Jag bosatte mig i Göteborg 2021. Sedan jag flyttade till Sverige har jag arbetat som universitetslektor vid institutionen för tillämpad IT vid GU och senare som postdoktor vid Chalmers.
Jag ser mig själv som en lingvistisk etnograf, även om mina forskningsintressen är ganska breda. Några av dem inkluderar interkulturell kommunikation och flerspråkiga fenomen inom internationaliserad högre utbildning, engelska som undervisningsspråk, språkpolitik och hur invandrarbarn utvecklar flerspråkighet.
På senare tid har jag undersökt hur generativ AI påverkar universitetsstudenters kommunikativa kompetens—jag har publicerat några studier om detta och arbetar med teorin bakom det. Jag undervisar i ämnen som rör språk och interkulturell kommunikation, akademiskt skrivande och forskningsmetodik.
