The Network for Literature and Religion
”In the beginning was the Word”. Scripture from different religions have always interacted with other religious texts as well as with secular texts. In course of time even Scripture came to be read as literature. The main area of interest for the network is the dynamic relationship between religion and literature, in history as well as in the present.
The purpose of the Network of Literature and Religion is to promote, enhance and develop the growing interest in interdisciplinary studies in the Nordic countries. The network, which has its home at the Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion (LIR), University of Gothenburg, develops, coordinates and organizes contacts in Scandinavia as well as contacts other networks around the world.
The network will also organize and implement seminars, workshops and major conferences. Courses in religion and literature at different levels will be given at LIR in Gothenburg as part of the activity of the network.
