Our longitudinal register- and surveydata has been used in different fields of research to assess the development in Swedish schools, society and labourmarket. As a PhD student or disputed researcher affiliated with a European university, you are eligable to access our data for your researchproject.
What is included in our data?
We collect data from a new birth cohort every six years. The collections take place every three years and include a stratified sample of students who were born in the specified year and are in year 3 at the time of the collection period.
The collections, which include questionnaire studies, highlight questions about the students' self-assessment, well-being, motivation, leisure activities and psychosomatic problems. They are assigned their first survey in year 3 and then they are assigned the same survey in year 6. The surveys differ somewhat in year 9 and in upper secondary school in order to include questions about further education. All questionnaires are supplemented with register variables that enable the follow-up of the individuals and a holistic perspective for the research.
Grades 3 and 6 also include cognitive tests, specially developed for UGU. These have been answered since 1961 and seen very little change overtime. They aim to map the students' cognitive development in verbal, spatial and numerical ability.
