Professor Maureen McKelvey gave a speech about the importance of developing our U-GOT KIES centre, to address the interlinkages between technology, public policy, business and entrepreneurship. The fundamental idea is that technological and economic change depends upon the dynamics at the interplay of a variety of organizations and actors, which play specialize roles within a knowledge-intensive ecosystem around a technology or industrial sector. The Gothenburg U-GOT KIES centre will promote both excellent research and teaching about innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as provide a meeting point for interactions with society and firms.

An ecosystem consists of a multitude of organisms that together create a vital living environment. Sweden’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is made up of individuals and organizations at different levels. Businesses, academia, and politics play the leading roles in this ecosystem. Their interaction must function well to ensure thriving and long‑term growth.
In this book, 32 leading voices from industry, academia, and the policy sphere are heard. Most of the contributors are researchers, but decision‑makers from the business sector and public authorities are also represented. In the book, they discuss questions such as:
