Programme Opening Ceremony

Creative Destruction through Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Science

Society needs to change – but how can we promote such change through innovation, entrepreneurship and science? The opening ceremony for the U-GOT KIES centre opens a dialogue on these questions, between leaders, entrepreneurs and researchers across different spheres of society. Our approach at the U-GOT KIES centre is to analyze knowledge-intensive innovation ecosystems is inspired by the economist Joseph A. Schumpeter. Creative destruction can be defined as a dynamic process by which obsolete economic and technical structures are replaced by new ones. Moreover, creative destruction is a mechanism of experimentation where existing resources are repurposed for new uses. Our foci for the panels are how and why individuals and organizations can stimulate such change by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and science.
