German, Intermediate Course: German literary history from the Enlightenment to Modernism
About
The course focuses on developments within the German-language Enlightenment, Idealism, Realism, and Modernism—periods in which the German language had a significant influence on the Western cultural sphere. You study how the literary representation of the self changes and how this shapes our understanding of society. This includes the relationship between the private and the public, the bourgeoisie and the nobility, self-fulfilment and social norms, as well as humanistic and scientific conceptions of the human being.
This course is open to
Exchange students at the Department of Languages and Literatures and exchange students on a university-wide agreement. Please contact your international coordinator at the University of Gothenburg if you need to know more.
