German literature and literaryhistory
About
In this course, you receive an in-depth introduction to German-language literature and literary history of the twentieth century. You learn to reflect on the differences between historiography and literary narration, and you gain knowledge of central issues in the historical development of German literature.
By reading literary texts in the original language, you strengthen both your reading comprehension and vocabulary, while also developing your ability to analyse these texts orally and in writing using basic literary-studies terminology and methods.
You are expected to take an active part in discussions and presentations and are encouraged to reflect critically on the reference material as well as on your own learning process, and to consider how the analytical potential of literature can be applied in societal contexts.
NB: When the course is given as a distance course, it has scheduled online classes.
