About

This Master’s level course provides you, as a student, with an in-depth understanding of feminist film and media studies. You will read and discuss both foundational texts and current research in the field, as well as engage with and analyze a wide range of audiovisual material—from film classics to contemporary TV series and digital media. By critically examining the development of the field since the 1970s and reflecting on central concepts, methods, and both historical and current debates, you will gain a deeper understanding of how feminist, decolonial, and queer perspectives can be applied within film and media studies. Throughout the course, you will delve into methodological issues related to archival research, historiography, and various interpretive practices, equipping you with critical and reflective tools for your own research. This course is particularly suitable for students preparing for doctoral studies or for those seeking to expand their theoretical and methodological competence in the analysis of moving images and visual representations.
