Summary
You practice reading and speaking Swahili by studying and actively using common constructions, everyday phrases and grammar, and by doing translations, both to and from Swahili.
About
This course is a continuation of the introductory course in Swahili.
The course trains your reading skills through the study of adapted and
commented texts as well as sound recordings. You will practice simple
conversations by studying and actively using common constructions and
everyday phrases. You will also practice more translation, mainly from
Swahili into English, but also from the latter into Swahili. The
necessary linguistic terminology is introduced to deepen your knowledge
of phonetics, grammar and semantics in Swahili.
Prerequisites and selection
Requirements
The requirement for admission to the course is 5 credits from AF1110 or the equivalent thereof. Exceptions to the requirement of knowledge of Swedish may be made.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
