Conference on Frontier Risks, Financial Innovation and Prudential Regulation of Banks

Exploring the crucial intersection of financial stability and emerging risks, this conference address challenges confronting the banking sector. The event is associated with a special issue of The Journal of Financial Intermediation (JFI), emphasizing the significance of the discussed themes.

We extend a warm invitation to the International Conference on Financial Stability and Frontier Risks, collaboratively organized by the Olin Business School WFA Center for Finance and Accounting Research, the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg, the Kenan-Flagler Business at the University of North Carolina, and the Journal of Financial Intermediation. 

Key Topics Include:

  • Shocks to stability originating from diverse sources such as fintech, shadow banking, geopolitical factors, climate change, cyber risks, pandemics, and societal upheavals. 
     
  • Insights into implications for banks arising from the interaction between traditional and frontier risks. 
     
  • The pivotal role of financial innovations in addressing and mitigating risks. 
     
  • Exploration of macroprudential and microprudential regulation tools designed to navigate both frontier and traditional risks. 

The conference starts with a welcoming reception at 6 PM on Sunday 2nd of June. The Monday and Tuesday sessions will feature the presentation and discussion of fourteen high-quality papers that have been specifically reviewed and selected for the topic of this conference. Additionally, there will be a panel session. Finally, we will conclude with a boat trip to the picturesque Marstrand on Tuesday evening.
