Planning parcel lockers for Gothenburg’s green transition
Short description
Gothenburg is receiving more parcels than ever, but more deliveries can also mean more traffic, emissions, and pressure on city streets. This project asks a simple question: when do parcel lockers make greener parcel habits easier? By studying selected locker sites in Gothenburg, we will explore how location shapes everyday choices: whether people walk, cycle, drive, or combine parcel collection with other trips, and whether delivery companies can serve the lockers efficiently with cargo bikes or electric vehicles. Parcel lockers are not automatically green. This project looks at where they make sustainable parcel habits easier, and where they risk creating new traffic or space problems. The project will produce practical guidance to help Gothenburg plan parcel lockers that support cleaner, smarter, and more accessible last-mile delivery.
