Everyday youth travel: How needs and satisfaction shape youth mode choice
Short description
Young people’s everyday travel shapes both their wellbeing and the sustainability of future transport systems. This project explores why youth different ways of getting around—for example walking, cycling, using public transport, or getting a life—and how needs like safety, independence, and convenience shape their travel behaviour, travel experiences, and willingness to travel in different ways in the future. Using surveys and interviews, we examine practical barriers in everyday life as well as what makes trips more or less satisfying. The goal is to provide insights that help municipalities, schools, and public transport actors (regional authorities and operators) create safe, attractive, and sustainable travel options that better match young people’s realities and support their independence.
