CKM delivers annual horizon scanning report

Published

On April 30th, the Centre for Disaster Medicine (CKM) delivered its annual horizon scanning report on total defence medicine to the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen). The report is part of the centre’s recurring assignment as a national knowledge centre in disaster medicine.

The horizon scanning report provides an overview of current research findings, ongoing activities, and developments within the field of total defence medicine. It includes both national and international perspectives, including experiences from ongoing conflicts, scientific publications, and relevant conferences. The importance of collaboration is a recurring theme throughout the report.

The report also highlights CKM’s role in contributing through education, coordination, and knowledge exchange. During 2025 and 2026, CKM has published 46 scientific articles, reflecting a high level of activity in research and knowledge development related to disaster medicine and emergency preparedness. The report further presents educational initiatives and research activities in which CKM participates or holds a leading role.

The annual horizon scanning report serves as a knowledge base for the National Board of Health and Welfare and contributes to strengthening Sweden’s national capacity within healthcare in crisis and war.
