The 6th International Symposium on Advances in Marine Mussel Research (AMMR2026) will take place 2–4 September 2026 at the Tjärnö Marine Laboratory on Sweden’s Bohuslän coast. This global, interdisciplinary meeting will highlight the latest Mytilus research — from molecular biology to ecosystem science.
The International Symposium on Advances in Marine Mussel Research presents the 6th edition of the International Symposium on Advances in Marine Mussel Research (AMMR2026), from 2-4 September 2026. Following on from the great successes of AMMR2016 in Vigo (Spain), AMMR2017 in Sete (France), AMMR2019 in Chioggia (Italy), AMMR2022 in Exeter (United Kingdom) and AMMR2024 in Sopot (Poland), this multidisciplinary, international meeting will take place at the Tjärnö Marine Laboratory on the beautiful Swedish Bohuslän coast, close to the border between Norway and Sweden.
AMMR2026 will be a 2.5 day meeting, starting in the afternoon of the 2nd, that will celebrate the latest in marine mussel (Mytilus sp.) research. AMMR want this to be a truly interdisciplinary, cosmopolitan meeting, spanning sub-cellular and molecular to whole ecosystem function, encompassing fundamental blue-skies to entirely commercial research, stretching from the sub-littoral to the high inter-tidal. Just like the spread of these incredible bivalves, AMMR would also love to welcome researchers from across the globe. Previous iterations of AMMR have covered incredible research on evolutionary biology, ecology, ecotoxicology and climate change, as well as the role of mussels within aquaculture.
Deadline for registration and abstract submission is June 15th.
After the meeting, a post-symposium Kayak paddling trip in the beautiful Swedish West Coast archipelago will be organised, including an outdoor lunch on one of the thousands of little islands.
This meeting will be organized around five central themes:
