About Lina Wirehag Nordh

Biography

I completed the Psychology Programme at the University of Gothenburg and graduated in June 2009. From 2009 to 2014, I worked in outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) in Gothenburg. I began my doctoral studies at the Department of Psychology at the University of Gothenburg in September 2014. During parts of my doctoral training, I continued to work part-time within BUP. I received my PhD in May 2023. My dissertation focused on relatives of patients in contact with psychiatric services, including two studies on children of parents receiving treatment in adult psychiatry and one study on parents of children referred to BUP. After completing my doctoral studies, I worked as a substitute Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology from August 2023 to June 2024. I then obtained a clinical position at Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, where I currently divide my time between research and clinical work with children and adolescents with chronic somatic illnesses and their families.

Teaching

I have experience of teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels. I have mainly taught within the Psychologist Programme, the Psychotherapy Programme, and commissioned education, in subjects related to developmental psychology, developmental psychopathology, and research methodology. I currently serve as a supervisor and co-supervisor for students writing specialist theses in psychology and master’s theses within the Psychology Programme.

Research interests

My research focuses on children, adolescents, and families, as well as methods for preventing and treating mental health problems. I am particularly interested in attachment-based assessment and treatment methods. I am a member of the research group CPPI – Clinical Psychology, Prevention and Intervention from a lifespan perspective.

Current research

I am currently a collaborating researcher in a project aimed at evaluating the effects of an early preventive support program for parents of children with congenital heart defects (CHIP-Infant). The project is conducted in collaboration between Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital and the University of Gothenburg.
