About Christian Mehrstam

I am an associate professor of literature at the University of Gothenburg. My research deals with the potential for transformation in and through different media, and is often cross-disciplinary. The current project is about exploratory programming and aesthetics.

I teach literary studies, code history, algorithmic criticism and media history in graduate and undergraduate courses. I am also part of the Digital Humanities research seminar, and co-edit and do interior layout for Imagining the Impossible: International Journal of the Fantastic in Contemporary Media.

Interests: exploratory programming, cybernetics/systems theory, code history, Lisp, algorithmic criticism, popular genres, games, comics, poetry.
