About Alexander Olausson

Alexander Olausson is a lecturer, registered nurse anesthetist (RNA) and PhD at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Alexander is also programme director for the specialist nursing programme in anaesthesia care and is engaged in collaborative clinical research at the Department of Anaesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care (AnOpIVA), Area 5, Sahlgrenska University Hospital Östra.

Research

Alexander’s research focuses on perioperative care and acute postoperative pain, with particular emphasis on opioid-free anaesthesia and opioid-sparing postoperative pain management strategies. He is the coordinator of a multicentre randomised clinical trial (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03756961), evaluating the effects of an opioid-sparing person-centred care pathway compared with conventional opioid-based care in bariatric surgery.
