About Marcus Kristensen

I am a PhD student in Information Technology and Learning at the Department of Applied IT and affiliated with the Graduate Schools CUL and GRADE.

My research focuses on the teaching profession and teachers' access to and use of digital technology for educational purposes, with a particular emphasis on understanding the ongoing digitalisation of education. I am especially interested in the platformisation of the teaching profession and how digital platforms are reshaping teachers’ work, professional identities, and practices. Additionally, my work examines the institutional logics that influence how schools and educators adopt and sustain digital tools, as well as the dynamics of teacher agency in navigating these changes. By analysing these factors, I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of how digitalisation impacts professionalisation processes within education and the broader implications for teachers' roles in a rapidly changing educational landscape.

With a background as a primary school teacher, I bring practical experience from the classroom into my academic work, offering valuable insights into the complexities of educational practice. I hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and a master's degree (M.Ed.) from the University of Gothenburg (2012, 2023).
