Intercultural and contrastive semantics and pragmatics
About
The course treats theoretical and methodological basics of semantics
and pragmatics, with both diachronic and diatopic approaches. You will
acquire tools to implement contrastive and cross-lingual analyses in
different discourses and skills in using adequate methods in semantic
and pragmatic analysis. Emphasis is placed on cultural linguistic
phenomena and communicative strategies in intercultural communication.
To study this course you need to be a graduate student and have profound knowledge in one of the following languages: English/French/German/Spanish/Arabic/Russian/Japanese/Chinese. An individual assessment of eligibility will be made based on your academic records. Examination is done in English and in your main study field (one of the above mentioned languages). The language of instruction is English but you will have some course literature in your main study field (language). Please see the syllabus for more information.
This course is open to
