About
The second-term course in English has several aims: to offer a more detailed perspective on the structure of English in terms of Grammar and Phonetics as well build upon the foundation provided in the introductory course as regards Academic Writing and Speaking. The course also continues to provide the tools for improved Literary and Cultural analyses.
The course is divided into several major areas of English Studies, namely Literature, Linguistics, Culture, Academic Writing and Speaking, and Phonetics. Compared to the introductory level, the courses at the intermediate level aim at deepening your understanding in these fields through a more theoretical and historical approach.
Prerequisites and selection
Requirements
At least 22.5 credits from the Introductory course in English, 30 credits or the equivalent thereof. Academic English in speech and writing (or written language proficiency) in the Introductory course or IELTS 7.0, no part below 6.0, or TOEFL 600, TWE results 5.0 should be included.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.
For admission to the summer 2021 and onward the following selection applies: selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
