This information applies to applications for the Bachelor's Program in Music, with a Specialization in Classical Performance, starting in autumn 2027. The next application period is 1 December 2026 – 15 January 2027.
Key dates for your application
For studies starting in autumn 2027.
- Apply for the program through universityadmissions.se
Application period: 1 December 2026 – 15 January 2027 - Compulsory piece (jury's choice) for clarinet, viola, and cello will be published on Tuesday 1 December 2026.
- Submit your admission test, part 1 (digital test): At the end of January 2027. The exact date will be announced later.
- Pay your application fee: Date to be confirmed.
If you are a citizen of the EU, an EEA country, or Switzerland, you are exempt from paying enrolment and tuition fees. If you are exempt from the application fee, you must provide documentation proving your exemption. More information about fees is available at universityadmissions.se. - Complete your eligibility: Date to be confirmed.

Admission test
For studies starting in autumn 2027.
The admission test consists of two parts:
- Part 1: Digital test
- Part 2: On-campus test
If you pass Part 1, you will be invited by email to take Part 2 in Gothenburg. If you are not admitted to Part 2, you will also receive notification by email.
Part 1: Digital test
Clarinet, viola, and cello
- Choose three pieces of music of different character and from different musical periods. Upload your repertoire list in SlideRoom. In the repertoire list, indicate which pieces you wish to have accompaniment for if you advance to Part 2.
- Compulsory piece (jury’s choice):
- Clarinet: Carl Maria von Weber, Concertino Op. 26
- Viola: Johann Sebastian Bach, Allemande or Courante from Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor (BWV 1008)
- Cello: Johann Sebastian Bach, Allemande from Cello Suite No. 4 in E-flat major (BWV 1010)
- Record the compulsory piece (jury’s choice) as well as one of your chosen pieces on video, and upload both in SlideRoom.
Piano
- Choose four pieces of music from at least three different musical periods and upload your repertoire list in SlideRoom.
- Record two pieces from you repertoire list on video and upload them in SlideRoom.
Percussion
- Prepare one freely chosen piece for each of the following:
- snare drum
- timpani
- mallet instrument (four mallets)
- Record all three pieces on video and upload them in SlideRoom.
All other instruments
- Choose three pieces of music of different character and from different musical periods. Upload your repertoire list in SlideRoom. In the repertoire list, indicate which pieces you wish to have accompaniment for if you advance to Part 2.
- Record two of your pieces from you repertoire list on video and upload them in SlideRoom.
Pieces may be performed with or without accompaniment.

Part 2: On-campus test
Clarinet, viola, and cello
- The jury will select two pieces for you to perform. The selection is made from your chosen repertoire list and the compulsory piece (jury’s choice) from Part 1.
Piano
- The jury will select one or more of your four pieces from the repertoire list for you to perform.
- You will also complete an interpretation test, where you are given a short piano piece to study for 20 minutes before performing it for the jury.
Percussion
- The jury will select from among your chosen pieces for snare drum, timpani, and mallet instrument (four mallets).
- You will also perform a tuning test on timpani and sight-reading on snare drum and mallet instrument.
All other instruments
- The jury will select which two of your three pieces from the repertoire list you will perform.
Pieces may be performed with or without accompaniment.
Interview
All applicants will take part in a short interview. The conversation is for informational purposes only and does not affect the assessment. You will receive the interview questions on site and can choose to answer in either Swedish or English.
Music theory
There is no separate theory test as part of the admission process.
However, you are expected to have basic knowledge of music theory, ear training, and harmony in order to benefit from the program.
Requirements for the video recordings
- Clearly state which piece you are going to perform on the recording.
- The recordings must be of high sound quality.
- The applicant must be visible at close range.
- Face, arms and instrument should be clearly visible.
- Record one piece of music per video.
- The recordings must not be edited.
- Accepted file formats are: .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .flv, .asf, .mpeg, .mpg, .mkv
- The maximum file size per video is 500 MB

Selection
Selection is based upon the admission tests. In the admissions tests, an admission committee assesses the applicants' eligibility for education, based on a ranking.
