Research comics and serious games: Experiences of Ukrainian displacement and resilience

Gregg Bucken-Knapp, Professor, School of Public Administration

How can comics and serious games help us make sense of the new reality faced by millions of displaced Ukrainians in the face of Russia’s full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022?  This presentation highlights how two projects, one making use of graphic narratives and one making use of researcher-practitioner-artist collaboration to create a serious board game, shed light on the everyday experiences of Ukrainians who were forced to flee at the start of the full-scale war and how their lives have been forever transformed.
