Short description

These are two successive EU projects in the Leonardo da Vinci Programme. Students from several European vocationally oriented schools worked in a virtual mode to solve technical problem-based “cases” in English. Self-assessment of language learning was performed with the aid of the Swedish and Dutch European Language Portfolio and the Swedish self-assessment material for A-Level English. Language learning in an ICT context was in focus.

A validation study was carried out in English listening comprehension, a Web page was created, and a teacher manual (with results and suggested ways of working with language learning in a virtual environment) was published.

A further follow-up project has been proposed (with the support of the Swedish programme office): Needs Analysis and Self-Assessment of Language Achievement Competences (NASLAC).
