Close to 20,000 scientists now signed the second warning to humanity

Twenty-five years ago, the Union of Concerned Scientists and more than 1700 independent scientists, including the majority of living Nobel laureates in the sciences,

penned the 1992 “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity” (pdf). On the twenty-fifth anniversary of their call, a group of scientists (the Alliance of World Scientists) look back at their warning and evaluate the human response by exploring available time-series data. The trends are indeed depressing in most areas.

The paper "World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice" (pdf) was published in BioScience on November 13 2017 with 15,364 signatures by scientists from 184 different countries. Now, December 20, the number of signtures has increased to 19,462.

We have now translated the paper into Swedish, you find it here.

The Alliance of World Scientists (AWS) is a new international assembly of scientists, which is independent of both governmental and non-governmental organizations and corporations. AWS is a grass-roots organization comprised of scientists from around the world committed to the well-being of humanity and the planet. The main goal of the AWS is to be a collective international voice of many scientists regarding global climate and environmental trends and how to turn accumulated knowledge into action. They are inviting all scientists to endorse this global environmental article and engage with the alliance concerned about global climate and environmental trends. Read more aboute the AWS here.
