Internship at CGM

Are you interested in migration and integration research and its' practical applications? Would you like to work with research communication, public engagement or seminar and conference organisation? CGM hosts an internship program aimed at students enrolled in a master’s program. Calls for internship placements are posted on this page.

We accept students currently enrolled in a master’s program. We are looking for highly motivated, self-driven interns who are interested in migration- and integration research. The working language is English. The internship is unpaid but students will receive academic credits.

We are looking for interns who can help with the organisation of the seminar programme, conferences and the associated tasks. You are welcome to develop your own ideas for seminars, preferably targeted at students and the general public. Other tasks might be updating our migration research database and migration publications. More research oriented tasks are also possible. You can for example combine the internship with developing a thesis idea or the writing of your thesis within the area of migration or integration.

During the internship, the student gets the opportunity to participate in the various activities organized by both CGM and the Department of Global Studies.

We prioritize interships of 10 weeks of longer. Your internship can be full time or part time (minimum 50%), depending on your possibilities.

All our interns need to have the following general qualifications:

  • Fluency in oral and written English, Swedish-knowledge is an asset but not a requirement.
  • The ability to work independently and take own initiatives is crucial for having a worthwhile internship with CGM.
  • Interns should be studying, or have completed studies at master level, or have relevant work experience.

Applications should be sent to: globalmigration@cgm.gu.se

Applications should include your CV, letter of presentation/motivation (max 1 page), and a writing sample from your ongoing or previous studies.

If we think you might be suitable for an internship, we would like to meet you in person and discuss how we can best accommodate you at CGM.

Final application date is Friday April 14th.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email.

We get many requests, but can only accept a few interns each semester.

We cannot accept interns during the summer months (mid june to mid august).

We cannot offer paid internships or help with accommodation.

We do not have the capacity to supervise thesis.

Please note that all decisions are made at the discretion of CGM and are final. As this is an unpaid internship, final decisions cannot be appealed.

We are currently looking for interns for the Autumn semester 2023
