In this lecture, Charlott will take the audience on a journey across different scales of professional learning. She begins very close to the action, zooming in on the micro-details of learning as they unfold in virtual environments. She then remains close, but shifts attention to analogue learning activities, where sensory experiences and instructed sensing are central to how professional skills are developed. Finally, she zooms out to consider the broader landscape of simulation pedagogies, tracing key conceptual developments in the field and critically examining the assumptions that shape how learning in safety-critical professions is commonly understood in current research.

The lecture speaks to ongoing debates about digitalisation, embodiment, and professional education, and will be of interest to colleagues working with learning, technology, and professional practice across disciplines.
