Understanding Brain Tumors

This thesis aims to improve understanding of slowly growing brain tumors with the help of advanced analysis methods.

Patients with this multifaceted disease have varying disease course and symptoms, which complicates clinical treatment. The thesis investigates the benefit of machine learning compared to clinical models for different purposes, and found that the method can improve survival prediction for the patients.

With network and image analyses, symptom interactions are mapped and brain functions at risk for the patients are identified, contributing to a broader understanding of the disease.
