Equity
Equity focuses on reducing inequalities in dementia care, support and society. Through person-centred and co-creative research, knowledge and interventions are developed to strengthen participation, access to support and quality of life for people living with dementia and their relatives.
Equity focuses on reducing inequalities in dementia care, support and society. Research within this theme takes a person-centred life-course perspective and examines how social, structural and cultural factors influence opportunities for good care, participation and quality of life for people living with dementia.
For people facing additional challenges
Research within Equity pays particular attention to groups at risk of exclusion, such as people facing socio-economic challenges, disabilities, multimorbidity, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. By highlighting how factors such as gender, migration, living conditions and health literacy interact, more inclusive and equitable approaches are developed.
Within this theme, both digital and non-digital interventions for prevention, support and participation are developed and evaluated. These may include creative and cultural activities, welfare technology, support for oral health, and methods that strengthen participation, self-determination and communication. All research is conducted in close collaboration with people living with dementia and their relatives, who actively contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of the research.
Towards a more equitable and inclusive society
Through co-creative research and close links to practice and policy, Equity contributes knowledge that can be translated into care, support and societal planning. The aim is to promote a more equitable and inclusive dementia-friendly society, where more people are able to live lives characterised by dignity, participation and meaning.
