Orthopaedics

Within the field of orthopedics, extensive research and education is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Our goal is to develop orthopedics to meet societal changes in digital health and in the demand for care due to urbanization and an aging population.

About us

Our research aims to improve and develop healthcare to minimize the consequences of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; to relieve pain and discomfort, to preserve or improve function and to reduce the socio-economic consequences.

Research

There is a wide range of subspecialties within orthopedics. In terms of our research, we have a particular focus on the following areas: Tendon and muscle injuries, Hip and knee replacement surgery, Back diseases and injuries, Arthroscopically treatable conditions, Orthopedic infections and infection prophylaxis, Fracture treatment, Cartilage injuries, Limb amputation injuries.
