About Oskar Abrahamsson
I hold a PhD in Human Geography and am a member of the Landscape and planning research group.
Research
My overarching research interest centres on human-nature relationships from a place- and landscape-based perspective. In my doctoral thesis, this was expressed through the premise that the concept of ‘nature’ is too general and imprecise to understand the spatial drivers behind peri-urban outdoor recreation. Instead, I proposed and conceptualised a place-oriented approach that highlights people’s experiences of and relationships with specific places, which in turn shape where they choose to go to engage in outdoor recreation and how they travel there. I am currently working on the EU-funded BIOTraCes project, where my main contribution is to analyse private forest owners’ place relationships with their forest land.
Teaching
Since 2019, I have been teaching undergraduate courses in urban planning and GIS, as well as supervising undergraduate these.
