Kristie Rigby
Research Assistant
Tjärnö Marine LaboratoryAbout Kristie Rigby
I am a research assistant across three marine research projects. For Testarena Skagerrak, I help design and plan experiments and establish and maintain marine cultures. In the Zorro seagrass research group, I carry out DNA extractions to support research on seagrass ecosystems. I also work with Alexandra Kinnby, conducting experimental studies on the effects of climate change on seaweeds and using HPLC-based methods to identify and quantify chemical compounds.
My broader research interests lie in marine ecology and chemical communication. During my PhD in the Signals in the Sea group, I investigated how chemical cues produced by copepods influence the behaviour and defensive responses of phytoplankton. By combining experimental, ecological and biochemical approaches, my work contributes to a better understanding of how marine organisms interact and respond to environmental change.
