About Lars Gamfeldt

I am a marine ecologist whose research focuses on biodiversity, how it is changing and what it means for how nature works. My research projects include both basic and applied research topics. A large part of my research is revolves around intertidal rocky shores, where I study how changes in species composition of shallow algal forests affect their productivity and associated biodiversity. In a newly started project funded by Formas, I want to increase our knowledge about kelp forests along the Swedish west coast, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Gothenburg and KTH.

I am a member, as PI, in the research network BECC, which is a collaboration between Lund University and the University of Gothenburg. BECC is a strategic research area, which brings together research on biodiversity and ecosystem services in a changing climate.
