Josefina Eliaso Magnusson has a PhD in bilingualism and is employed as an associate senior lecturer. Her research interests lie in the areas of sociolinguistics, multilingualism, and multilingualism in educational contexts, with a particular focus on language ideology and identity processes. Josefina earned her doctorate at the Centre for Research on Bilingualism, Stockholm University, with a thesis entitled Language, diaspora, power, which examines how language changes, is used, and acquires meaning for multilingual young adults in diaspora. Subsequent research projects have dealt with multilingual study guidance and collaboration between study guidance tutors and teachers, as well as professional education in times of change with a particular focus on language and power. Josefina also has a strong interest in issues relating to collaboration between academia and the wider society. She has been a project coordinator and participated in teaching development initiatives in various assignments from the Swedish National Agency for Education.
Teaching
Josefina teaches mainly within the framework of the master’s program in didactics and supervises students at all levels, from undergraduate to postgraduate. She has experience of teaching the subject of Swedish as a second language at various levels and has primarily taught sociolinguistics in teacher education courses.
