About David Jersenius
I have been a PhD student in private law since 2022.
My PhD project is in the field of maritime and transport law and examines the possibilities of using private law mechanisms to contribute to a more sustainable shipping and transport sector. Particular focus is placed on the environmental impact of ships at anchor and on the possibilities of using contractual mechanisms to reduce the occurrence of anchoring and, consequently, its environmental impact.
As part of my PhD employment, I teach at the Department of Law. I have previously worked as a lecturer in law at University West, where I taught and held several different positions, including Assistant Head of Division, Programme Director, Chair of the Programme Council, and member of the Department Board.
Before entering academia, I worked in insurance with claims handling, insurance law, and as Head of Corporate Claims.
