Examination formats
Students will be evaluated based on their performance on group work as well as individual assignments. The course will take advantage of interactions between Swedish and international students to form groups for a joint assignment in the form of a case study.
There are four forms of assessment on this course, which must be
completed in order to receive a Pass. Students will be required to
1) actively participate in the two seminars (0,5 hec) per seminar, and
2), for one of the two seminars submit a written group assignment and make an oral seminar presentation of the group assignment (1,5 hec),
3) submit a written essay at the end of the course (5 hec) and
4) actively participate in the final essay seminar by both presenting one’s own essay and acting as discussant.
Completion of examined assignments are permitted. If the student does not submit the completion on time, the student will be failed on the assignment.
A student who is not able to attend the compulsory oral seminar presentation can do an alternative assignment. The assignment will be described in the course guide.
Restrictions on the use of generative AI are stated in the course guide. Students are obliged to inform themselves about the current rules for examining elements such as assignments, seminar papers and other forms of exams in the course in question.
If a student, who has failed the same examined component twice, wishes to change examiner before the next examination, a written application shall be sent to the department responsible for the course and shall be granted unless there are special reasons to the contrary (Chapter 6, Section 22 of Higher Education Ordinance).
If a student has received a recommendation from the University of Gothenburg for study support for students with disabilities, the examiner may, where it is compatible with the learning outcomes of the course and provided that no unreasonable resources are required, decide to allow the student to sit an adjusted exam or alternative form of assessment.
In cases where a course has been discontinued or has undergone major changes, the student shall normally be guaranteed at least three examination occasions (including the ordinary examination) during a period of at least one year from the last time the course was given.
Grades
The grading scale comprises: Pass with Distinction (VG), Pass (G) and Fail (U).
To obtain the Pass grade, the student must receive a Pass on all assessments. To obtain Pass with Distinction for the entire course, the student must receive a Pass with Distinction on the essay and Pass on all other assignments.
