About

Please note that all lectures, course literature and online communication with teachers will adhere to the English language. Learning how to effectively express the complex ideas about this subject in English is an important part of this course.

The first weeks of the course entail a theorethical introduction concerning the various history and logic of intellectual property law, particularly as understood on the level of the European Union. Broader questions of value-generation and innovation theory will also be highly central to the content. The theory will then be applied in: an intellectual property negotiation exercise, a presentation of a court case or decision from the European Court of justice or the American Supreme court, and during an oral argument in a Moot-court setting.

The teaching methods are mirrored in the assessment methods whereby the students are asked both to give an overview of some area of the legal field of Intellectual Property law as it relates to the Innovation concept as well asked to analyze a concrete fictional case and provide the arguments relevant from a certain perspective.

The grading of each student is, outside of class-participation, based on case-presentation, strategy hand-in and oral presentation. All of these require mandatory participation and please observe that the oral presentation is held in January.
