Statistical physics
About
Statistical physics encompasses a number of general concepts and powerful tools for dealing with systems with many degrees of freedom and systems exposed to stochastic fluctuations (noise). The methods of statistical physics have a very wide spectrum of applications ranging from astrophysics and biological physics to materials physics and quantum information.
The purpose of the course is to familiarize the students with some of the most common concepts and tools in statistical physics and show how they can be applied in widely different areas.
