Hackathons
In a hackathon programmers, developers and designers come together to work in teams to build solutions to cases provided by the organizer.
It’s an intensive event over usually two or three days. Students are given the opportunity to participate in hackathons as an extracurricular activity. The hackathons are arranged by either the department or by external organisations.
– Our hackathons are an important part of the education that the students greatly appreciate, says program manager Francisco Gomes. In 2026, for example, we arranged Hack a Truck, a competition in which a large number of teams signed up to compete in maneuvering a truck using only their own code.
