Summary

This course constitutes the final degree project for the Master’s programme in Sea and Society. During one semester, you will undertake an independent scientific project within the field of Sea and Society.

The project may consist of an empirical study, an analysis of existing data, or a literature-based study, and is carried out under supervision. The results are presented both in writing and verbally in the form of a scientific report and through an oral presentation at a final seminar.

About

The Master’s programme in Sea and Society is a transdisciplinary programme that studies the interaction between humans and the ocean from a range of perspectives, including history, social sciences, economics, law, and natural sciences.

During the degree project course, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in a specific area and to contribute independently to the advancement of knowledge within the main field of study.

During the course, you will develop your ability to integrate different types of knowledge, work with scientific methods, and analyse complex sustainability challenges linked to the sea. You will also be trained in formulating scientific questions, carrying out a project within given timeframes, and communicating your results both orally and in writing.
