Entry requirements
Qualification for admission to the course requires admission to a Speech and Language pathology programme in Europe or other institution University of Gothenburg has got partnership with, and admitted as an exchange student to the speech and language pathology program at Sahlgrenska Academy. The student should have carried out and completed the studies of at least a year in logopedics or the equivalent (60 ECTS been credits) with approved result before they can be admitted to the course. Furthermore, good knowledge in English is required.
Content
The course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The practical part consists of a) auscultation at two different speech and language pathology clinics and b) an interview with a speech and language pathology student at the University of Gothenburg. The theoretical part consists of reflections on a) the education of speech and language pathologists at University of Gothenburg compared to the education at the home university, b) speech and language pathologists' clinical practice in Sweden compared to the home country and c) implementation of person-centred care in education and clinical activities.

- Demonstrate an understanding of how speech and language pathology can work at a clinic in Sweden.
- Discuss how person-centred care can be implemented in speech and language pathology activities.

- Describe and reflect on observed examination and/or treatment sessions led by a speech and language pathologist.

- Compare clinical activities in Sweden with experiences from the own higher education institution.

Form of teaching
The clinical auscultation is supervised by a licensed speech and language pathologist. The interview is conducted together with a speech and language pathology student at the speech and language pathology program at University of Gothenburg.
Language of instruction: English and Swedish
Examination formats
Written reflection on compulsory literature should be carried out before the practical part of the course.
Compulsory attendance at two auscultation days in speech and language pathology activities. In case of failed part of the course, the student has the possibility to get a renewed examination of either the whole course or just parts of the course. The clinical placement is limited to two occasions.
Interview with a speech and language pathology student at the speech and language pathology program at University of Gothenburg. This is compiled together in the written assignment to be done in connection with auscultation and is presented written and orally.
If a student who has twice received a failing grade for the same examination component wishes to change examiner ahead of the next examination session, such a request should be made to the department in writing and should be approved by the department unless there are special reasons to the contrary (Chapter 6 Section 22 of the Higher Education Ordinance).
If a student has received a recommendation from the University of Gothenburg for study support for students with disabilities, the examiner may, where it is compatible with the learning outcomes of the course and provided that no unreasonable resources are required, decide to allow the student to sit an adjusted exam or alternative form of assessment.
In the event that a course has ceased or undergone major changes, students are to be guaranteed at least three examination sessions (including the ordinary examination session) over a period of at least one year, but no more than two years after the course has ceased/been changed. The same applies to internships and professional placements (VFU), although this is restricted to just one additional examination session.
Grades
The grading scale comprises: Pass (G) and Fail (U).
Course evaluation
Course evaluation takes place written, and orally in dialogue with the students. Course coordinator compiles analysis of course evaluation, give proposals for development of the course and answers also for feedback to the students. The results of and possible changes to the course will be shared with students who participated in the evaluation and students who are starting the course.
