About

You will be introduced to the field of typology and you will have an opportunity to further develop your understanding of linguistic structures in general, and structures in African languages in particular. The focus is on the sound system, morphology and syntax.

Prerequisites and selection

Requirements

To be admitted to the course, students must have completed the course AF1111 and an additional 15 credits on one or several of the courses AF1110, AF1210, AR1100, AR1101, AR1140, AR1141, SO1102, SO1203, SOL110, SOL120, SOL130 or the equivalent in other non-European languages spoken in Africa. Exception is made to the requirement for Swedish as a general entry requirement. From spring 2023:  To be admitted to the course, students must have completed the course AF1111 and an additional 15 credits in one or several of the subjects Arabic, Somali, Swahili, linguistics or other non-European languages spoken in Africa, or the equivalent. Exception is made to the requirement for Swedish as a general entry requirement.

Selection

Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
