About

The course treats basic linguistic features of academic English in speech and writing. In particular the written components constitute an introduction to English academic prose. Examples of components that are included are linguistic awareness, linguistic correctness, stylistics, academic vocabulary, cohesion and argumentation structure. The course trains skills that are needed to write a Bachelor's thesis in African languages.

Prerequisites and selection

Requirements

To be admissible to the course, students must have completed (a) the course AF1111, and (b) a course equivalent to 7.5 credits in academic English, e.g. EN1003, or equivalent. Exception is made to the requirement for Swedish as a general entry requirement.

Selection

Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
