Teaching and Learning of Mathematics

The group conducts research in different aspects of the teaching and learning of mathematics and mathematics education. Some of the areas which are covered by the group are teacher education, history of mathematics and mathematical reasoning, problems solving strategies, assessment and gifted education. The main focus is on upper secondary school but issues concerning the transition to university level mathematics, teaching and learning at university level as well as in preschool and teacher training have been included. The group is part of the research theme Matematik och naturvetenskap, which involves several departments and organizations engaged in mathematics and natural science education research in the Gothenburg area.
