Women and HIV

Åsa Mellgren’s research group conducts HIV research with a focus on women as well research on patient-reported outcome and experience measures (PROMs and PREMs). The research encompasses pregnancy and breastfeeding, treatment outcomes of antiretroviral therapy, bone health in postmenopausal women, and the impact of social factors, such as exposure to violence, on health and treatment outcomes.
Åsa Mellgren leads the national work on PROMs and PREMs in HIV care within the InfCareHIV quality registry. She is a co-investigator in the SANCA study on anal cancer screening among women living with HIV and serves on the steering committee of the national COSMOHS study on comorbidity among people living with HIV in Sweden.
The overall aim is to strengthen the evidence base in areas of particular importance to women living with HIV and to contribute to improved care and treatment for people living with HIV.
