Marine Citizen Science means that researchers and private individuals collaborate to develop new knowledge. At the University of Gothenburg, there are several projects where you can help researchers increase the knowledge of the sea.

Search for jellyfish

Search for the jellyfish is a citizen science project that aims to find out more about the occurrence and status of jellyfish in Swedish waters. In this project, the people are asked to send in pictures of jellyfish with the app iNaturalist or by "Artportalen".

Become a snail detective

Why do periwinkles have such different colours? This is a mystery that scientists are now trying to solve, and to do so they are calling for help from the public in a citizen science project. 

Help scientists with photographs of seals

Seal researchers at the University of Gothenburg is calling for photographs of seals in Swedish waters. The images will help with understanding seal activity and be used to learn more about seal ecology.
